Missed Appointments, Cancelling and Late Arrivals

Missed Appointments

Non-attendance, late arrivals or last-minute cancellations can have a significant impact on the appointment availability at the practice.

In 2024 approximately around 1000 booked appointments were not attended.

This works out to approximately 19 wasted appointments each week.

We ask for a minimum of one full working day to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

Cancelling Appointments

If possible, we ask for at least one full working day to cancel an appointment.

To cancel an appointment you can:

  • Follow the link on your text message appointment reminders to cancel
  • Cancel via the NHS App
  • Telephone us on 01263 724500
  • Visit us in person and ask at front desk

If you are cancelling your appointment on the same day, we may not be able to offer that time slot to another patient. This means we lose clinician appointment time.

We may update your records as “Did not attend”.

Late Arrivals

If you arrive 5 or more minutes late for your appointment, you will be asked to rebook.

Our appointments are booked back-to-back and if you are not here on time, this will impact the clinician and the patients who follow.
